MatchLive.com Hosts SpeedMatching Event for Dallas-area Singles
the events affiliate of online dating site Match.com, is hosting
a SpeedMatching event in its hometown of Dallas on November 18 at
Americas Latin Cuisine & Tapas Bar. The featured host of the event
is Alex Michel from the original season of ABC's "The Bachelor."
SpeedMatching is an exciting, fun way to quickly get to know other
eligible singles on several "mini-dates" in one evening.
The event at "Americas" marks the launch of MatchLive.com's
Dallas-area event series, as MatchLive.com will continue to offer
fun and exciting singles events at a wide range of venues across Texas
in cities such as Dallas, Austin, Houston and San Antonio. Events
include SpeedMatching, sporting event watching parties, nightlife
events and lock and key parties (an icebreaker with an objective to
match up participants where women are given locks, men are given keys
and each lock has only one mated key), among other interactive outings.
At a SpeedMatching event, each person has a few minutes to engage
in a quick, 'Get to know you' conversation with one other person,
then rotates to the next table to meet someone new. On a score sheet,
each person indicates whom they'd like to meet again. After the event,
attendees will receive an email with the contact information for their
matches. The Dallas event, hosted by Alex Michel, begins at 6:30 p.m.
on Tuesday, November 18 at "Americas" on McKinney Avenue
in uptown Dallas. Advance tickets are available through www.dallas.matchlive.com
.
"We are very excited about the start of MatchLive.com events
here in Dallas," said Chris Terrill, vice president of events
and travel for MatchLive.com. "Our goal is to provide Dallas
singles with an array of outings and activities that allow them to
merge their hobbies and interests with their romantic and social agendas."
In a June 2003 survey conducted by Match.com where singles answered
questions about their experiences dating and relating in their city
of residence, Dallas singles ranked 4th amongst 18 cities nationwide
for being the best at giving and receiving love. But 78% of Dallas
singles reported it is difficult to approach someone in Dallas and
inquire if they are single. In the Dallas/Fort Worth metro area, there
are currently more than 120,000 Match.com members with profiles posted
to the site.
Four Tips for Fun and Effective SpeedMatching
1. Relax and be yourself.
2. Make eye contact and smile.
3. If you find yourself talking a lot, try asking some questions.
4. If you're not sure about someone, give him/her the benefit of a
doubt -- it's not always easy to shine in a few minutes!
